Alternative China prize aims to divert attention

A group of Chinese nationalists have forged ahead with their alternative to the Nobel Prize, the Confucius Peace Prize.

Chinese authorities remain outraged with the Nobel Committee’s plans to honour imprisoned dissident Liu Xiaobo on Friday.

But the chairman of Norway’s Nobel Committee says the award is not a push for Western values in China, but for universal human rights.
